MMHS 2021 Veterans Day Assembly

Colonel Joseph Green, current Chief of Staff of the Utah Army National Guard addressed the MMHS student body at the 2021 Veterans Day Assembly. Colonel Green is a combat veteran and one of the most respected intelligence officers in the United States Military. Colonel Green was joined by his wife, the former Brenda DeBuck, who is a former history student of MMHS's own Greg Smith.

Colonel Green was also joined by Korean War Veteran Herb Mote, who celebrated his 91st birthday with MMHS students. Thank you for your service and happy birthday!

MMHS Students Visit NOVA classes

Several MMHS students were selected by School Resource Officer Clint Peterson to participate in the N.O.V.A. programs at Larsen, Sierra Bonita, and Spanish Oaks elementary schools. The MM students served on a panel and answered questions from the 5th graders about drugs, bullying, alcohol, time management skills, how to choose classes in junior high and high school, and how to make friends, among other topics. Thank you, MM students, for your great examples to these elementary students!

Red Rocks State Marching Band Competiton

The marching band placed third overall in 5A at the Red Rocks State Marching Band Competition and were declared region champs! We are extremely proud of how the students performed. They gave everything they had to their audience. 

We’d like to thank our parents and staff for all the work they do to make this possible. Also, huge thanks to our admin for coming to support us while we performed in St. George! A wonderful finish to a successful season.

Prep of the Week - Katie Smith

Senior Katie Smith is the years girls soccer “Prep of the Week” award winner. Katie who plays center back helped lead our girls to the region title and also a deep run in the state soccer playoffs. Katie has shown great leadership and commitment over her four year career at MMHS. She is also a member of the basketball and track teams. Katie was also honored with the UHSAA Academic All State award. Congratulations Katie!

Three MMHS Ellevés Named to the 5A All-State Drill Team

Three members of the Maple Mountain High School Drill Team were chosen to audition for the 5A All-State Drill Team. Madi Goulding, daughter of Tara and Steven Goulding; Julia Dall, Cheyenne Ortiz, daughter of Ryan and Amy Ortiz; and Oaklee Tingey, daughter of RaShel Shepherd and Ty Tingey, represented Maple Mountain at the auditions held on Thursday, November 4. 

Madi is a junior and this is her first year as a member of the Ellevés Drill Team. She recently won 4 th runner up in the Miss Drill Utah solo competition.

Prep of the Week - Kaitlin Dixon

Senior Kaitlin Dixon is our Girls Tennis team “Prep of the Week” award winner for this year. Kaitlin has been playing as the number 1 singles player winning most of her matches. Early in the year Kaitlin suffered a wrist injury that forced her to play in pain with her wrist heavily wrapped. Kaitlin fought through the pain to place high at the region tournament then advancing to the state tournament. Kaitlin is also an outstanding student in the classroom.

Congratulations Kaitlin on an outstanding career and season!

Prep of the Week - Caleb Woolford

Sophomore Caleb Woolford is our Boys Cross Country “Prep of the Week.” Caleb has been our #1 runner all year leading our boys team to a 2nd place finish at state and helping the team qualify for the state cross country championships where he placed in the top 20 in a field of close to 200 runners. Being only a sophomore, Caleb has a bright future in cross country and track. Caleb is also an outstanding student in the classroom.

PBS KIDS Reading Marathon

The PBS KIDS Reading Marathon is taking place during the month of November. Children (ages preschool - 6th grade) are encouraged to read 20 minutes per day or 600 minutes total throughout the month. From December 1-15 parents will then go on to our PBS website and log their minutes for AMAZING prizes around town during 2022!  

Each Reading Marathon participant will receive a personalized Adventure Pass which will give them the following: 

FREE entrance to Hogle Zoo
FREE entrance to Red Butte Garden
FREE entrance to Tracy Aviary

Prep of the Week - Ashlyne Murray

Senior Ashlyne Murray has been selected as the Girls Cross Country “Prep of the Week” for this year. Ashlyne has been a leader on the girls team by helping the girls advance from the divisional meet to the state meet recently. Ashlyne sets the standard for hard work and leadership that everyone looks up to. Ashlyne is also an outstanding student carrying a cumulative grade point average of 3.89. Congratulations Ashlyne!
