MMHS Ellevés Take Region

The Maple Mountain High School Ellevés competed at the Region VIII Drill Team Competition held at Springville High School on Thursday, January 24, 2013. The Ellevés placed 1st in the Military category; 1st in the Dance category, and 1st in the Kick category. Overall the Ellevés placed 1st and were awarded the Region VIII trophy. Melissa Durtschi, daughter of Russell and Sue Durtschi, won 1st place in the drill down competition; Jamie Topham, daughter of Greg and Michelle Topham, won 2nd place in the drill down competition; and Brittany Peterson, daughter of Justin and Katie Peterson, won 5th place in the drill down competition.

Three Maple Mountain High School Ellevés were named to the All-Region Drill Team. They are Lindsey Bagley, daughter of Shawn and Amanda Bagley; Melissa Durtschi, daughter of Russell and Sue Durtschi; and Shalee Hiskey, daughter of Bruce and Lana Hiskey. Qualifications for this honor were drill team members who have been an active member of drill team for two years or more, having an excellent attitude, unifying the team, going the extra mile, having great sportsmanship, and being respectable and dependable. They must also have above average grades and citizenship. 

The Ellevés also had three seniors named to the Academic All-Region Team. To qualify for this award, they must be a senior and have a grade point average of 3.7 or higher. Those making the team were: Lindsey Bagley, daughter of Shawn and Amanda Bagley; Catherine Bladh, daughter of and Dan and Amy Bladh; and Shalee Hiskey, daughter of Bruce and Lana Hiskey.

New this year is a “Hero” award given to one member on each of the drill teams. Lindsey Bagley was given the “Hero” award for Maple Mountain. 

The Ellevés would like to thank their parents and all of the students and fans that came to Region and cheered them on to victory! They really appreciate all of the support they have had all year. 

The Ellevés will now compete in the State 4A/5A Drill Team Competition. The competition will be held on Friday, February 1, at 11:00 a.m. in the UCCU Center at UVU.
