The MMHS Ellevés Drill Team will hold their third annual showcase on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the MMHS auditorium. The showcase will feature an introduction of all of the members of the Ellevés. Performances will include their award-winning competition routines in the areas of hip hop, lyrical, military, dance, and character. There are also a few new routines that will be part of the show including an officer’s routine, a new lyrical piece, and solos by some of the Ellevés.
Congratulations to Nik Simpson and Maddy Sherman for earning awards at the National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition. Nik received the Bailey Pottery & Ceramic Supply Award and the Orton Foundation Award for his bottles titled "Spring Growth." Maddy received the Curator Book Award for her tea set titled "Slabbed Tea."
The colorguard, made up of Grace Rose, Elizabeth Swann, Jewell Smith, Sara Vincent, Johana Linford, Michaela Brown, Kilee Christensen, and Amanda Vincent, took third place in their division at this year's State Championships. The girls would like to share their accomplishments with family and friends this Friday, April 20th at 5pm. They are hosting a Nebo District colorguard performance celebrating the seniors and their accomplishments over the year. Please join them at North Park this Friday for dinner and a show!
The Maple Mountain High School Dance Company will present their 3rd annual Spring Concert entitled "Free to Move" on Thursday, April 19th and Friday April 20th in the MMHS Auditorium beginning at 7:00 pm. The Dance Company will showcase their own choreography as well as guest pieces by McKensie Beck, Leah Vincent, and Chris Castillo. The Social Dance Classes and Dance 2 will also perform. Please attend this concert as it promises to be full of amazing dance talent and inspiration. Admission is $5, $20 immediate family, and $4 students.
Last week several students competed at the State Skills USA
competition. Decker Nielson competed for job interview. Brian Wood
competed for photography. Stetson West tied for 9th place out of 23
for individual welding. Jeff Anderson, Cody Covington, and Kyle
Hansen took 4th place in welding fabrication. Amanda Petersen, Katelyn
Nielson, and Zachary Jacobson took 2nd place for crime scene
investigation. Congratulate these students for all their hard work!
Megan Elmont is a sophomore sprinter on the Maple Mountain girls track team. This past week Megan qualified for state in three events: the 4 x 100m relay team, the long jump, and the 200 meters. Megan's relay team placed first at the Timpanogos Invitational. She also won the long jump and took 2nd in the 200m. Congratulations Megan!
