DECA & FBLA Competition

The 2017-2018 school year was a great success for the DECA club at Maple Mountain High School. With monthly meetings, leadership conference, and 5 competitions throughout the year the students stayed busy. Leadership Conference was held in Salt Lake City. Students were addressed by an executive from Maverick.
Issack Bahena just returned from the DECA Nationals Competition in Atlanta, Georgia. With competitors for every state, and from Mexico, Spain, Canada, China, and Japan, Issack performed very well and represented Maple Mountain High with pride. Issack was required to take one test and two role play competitions to advance to the final round. With around 200 students in his field, it was a difficult task to be in the top 20 for the final round. Issack was close to reaching the finals.
Our DECA club had several students compete at the Snow College Competition as well as the LDS Business College Competition. Several students placed in these competitions.
At Snow College, Issack Bahena Placed second in his event and Luke Grotegut placed third in his event.At LDS Busness College Issack Bahena placed third in business management event.Our MMHS DECA club attended the state competition two weeks ago. Seven students attended the competition and all performed very well. A few highlights were: out of 250+ students both Savannah Marker and McKenzie Connelly tested in the top 10% in their subject, and they also finished in the top ten in state competing in the "Business Law and Ethics" team event. Spencer Searcy finished third in state and qualified to attend the national competition in California if he chooses to go.
Last week the DECA club went and competed at Snow College. Our students performed very well! We had 6 students in the final round, including Savannah Marker and McKenzie Connelly winning 1st place in Business Law and Ethics category. For winning first place they received a $2000 scholarship to Snow College. If you see these young ladies please congratulate them!
On Thursday, January 22, the DECA club at MMHS attended the Utah Southern Regional Competition. Our DECA club performed very well and took second place! The following students place in region:
Our DECA club competed in the Snow College Invitational on November 5, 2014. Our club performed very well. Katie Murray and Bethany Irwin placed 3rd place in the Business Law and Ethics event, and Duncan Beutler and Haley Andrew finished 2nd in the Business Law and Ethics event. Congratulations to them and the entire club!
MMHS DECA club competed in the 2014 state competition. Some of the team members placed in state. They are as follow: Curtis Blair placed 11th in state, Brayden Jackman and Duncan Beutler placed 9th in state, and Bethany Irwin and Chandler Schramm placed 5th in state.
