Prep of the Week - Haley Andrew & Cassie Knapp

Submitted by tyler.lewis on

Congratulations to Haley Andrew and Cassie Knapp for being chosen as this week's MMHS Prep Athletes of the Week! They are the Varsity 1st Doubles and have gone undefeated through the season winning some tough matches against Timpview and Springville. Their strengths compliment each other as Haley has great groundstrokes and overheads while Cassie's serves and backhand volleys are the best in the Region. These teammates are great friends and add so much to the MMHS Tennis Team. They are also both Academic All-Region recipients.

September Students of the Month

Sophomore Kelsy Flander’s favorite quote is, “Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if one only remembers to turn on the light.” –Albus Dumbledore.

This helps her remember that things could always be worse, and that there are positive things all around her. In five years, she hopes to be coming home from an L.D.S. mission and going into college.

Kelsy enjoys reading, writing, singing, playing the flute, and piano. Her favorite subject in school is Ancient Civilizations because she finds them interesting and compelling.

Drumline Won 1st at the Utah High School Drumline Throwdown

Submitted by tyler.lewis on

The competition consisted of prelims during the day and finals in the evening at the WSU Wildcat Stadium. Drumlines from around the state prepared two different cadences (short musical segments for drumline performances) to present to the audience, complete with visuals (to "work the crowd"). After the three finalists each performed their cadences, a panel of professional music educators and percussionists crowned Maple Mountain's drumline the winner!

Submitted by tyler.lewis on

Our MMHS Welding Fabrication Team went to the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference over the summer to represent our state for the second year in a row. The team consisted of Josh Jensen, Michael Swanson, and Chandler Schramm. They traveled to Kansas City, MO to face off against the top 35 fabrication teams in the country. The boys executed well and took 4th place! If you see these young men, congratulate them on a job well done.
