Eighteen Maple Mountain High School girls competed for the title of “Sweetheart” 2012. They were: Brett Bennett, Sarah Bendixsen, Christena Birkhoffer, Becca Brown, Erin Elmont, Randie Hyer, Mckell James, Raquel Jones, Kristan Kiracofe, Kami Miner, Heidi Morrill, A’Lea Nielsen, Sam Nielson, Ali Prothero, Jada Poulsen, Heather Richins, Alena Robertson, and Kambrie Sales. The contestants had a range of contests including cow milking, pie eating, flower arranging, cake decorating, and a relay race.
Austin Rowley fulfilled a dream by not only winning an individual state title but on the way helping his wrestling team
to their first ever team state championship. The state title is the first in school history. Congratulations Austin!
Derek Tidwell was named the 2012 Utah FFA Proficiency Award winner in the area of Forage Production. The Agricultural Proficiency Awards honor FFA members who, through their SAEs, have developed specialized skills that they can apply toward their future careers. Derek has worked at James Farm, Inc, which is an alfalfa cubing facility in southern Utah. His duties include driving tractor, pile truck, working the cubing machines, driving the swather, and other odd end jobs.
Two MMHS students were accepted into the All State High School Art Show and both won prestigious awards. Alex Matthews won an Award of Mastery (they only give out 4), and Chrystel Bardsley won an Award of Excellence (they give 10). The Springville Art Show had almost 1,000 entries from high school students all over the state and was juried down to accept just 345 artworks. The students were able to meet the governor and members of the Legislature February 22nd.
The Nebo School District Dance Company Showcase will be held Wednesday, February 29th at 7:00 pm in the Maple Mountain High School Auditorium. The Dance Companies from Maple Mountain, Spanish Fork, Salem Hills, Springville, and Payson High Schools will all be presenting pieces they have worked on this school year. Each school's Sterling Scholar will also perform at this unique concert. Please come and support our talented dancers and the fine arts programs at the high schools. Admission is $5 or family pass for $20. Students admission is $3 with student ID.
Jethro Gillespie was named as the Utah Art Education Association
(UAEA) "Utah High School Educator of the Year"....they state..."We are
extremely impressed with Mr. Gillespie's accomplishments and
dedication to artistic education of Utah children and are pleased to
recognize him."
Kelsey Lewis is this weeks MMHS "Prep of the Week." Kelsey has helped her team to a first place tie in Region 8 girls basketball with outstanding play recently. Kelsey was also a member of the MMHS tennis team this past fall.

You can send up to three pictures, sketch how you want the ad designed, write a few lines of copy, and send all of that plus the money to the finance office. See the attachment for more information.
