Golden Eagles fall short to Warriors

The Maple Mountain Girls’ Basketball team squared off against the Snow Canyon Warriors. At the end of the first half, the Golden Eagles were leading; but, during the 3rd and 4th quarters of the game Snow Canyon outscored Maple Mountain, ultimately taking the win (48-37).   Golden Eagle’s Baylee Nielsen (center) scored 13 points with 11 rebounds and 5 steals. The Maple Mountain varsity girls’ basketball team is comprised of all sophomores and four freshman. 

Golden Eagles Boy’s Basketball Starts Season Strong

Golden Eagle’s Varsity Basketball started strong winning their first game played against American Leadership Academy with a close score of 45 to 40. Last Thursday, December 3, MMHS Boy’s Basketball played a great game against Desert Hills. Even though they lost, they didn’t go down without a fight!  During the second and third quarter, Maple Mountain took it up a notch and scored 12 points in each consecutive quarter.

The Perfect End to a Great Season

Maple Mountain High School Cross Country competed in a season final race on December 5, 2009, ending the first year on a good note. The team enjoyed a trip to sunny California to battle in the Foot Locker Cross Country Championships. Teams from all over the West met at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California, to race in the final 5K of the season. The competition was divided between age groups and gender, with freshmen and sophomores racing first, followed by the juniors, finally seniors.

Maple Mountain Marching Band Takes 4th

On November 6, members of the Maple Mountain Marching Band competed in the Red Rock Invitational in St. George. Wearing their new uniforms, tension was in the air before the Golden Eagles were to perform “Take Flight.”   Maple Mountain Marching Band was awarded 4th place overall.

Debbie Thorn Registers with Students

Debbie Thorn has been working for Nebo School District for thirteen years.  She is our new Registrar at Maple Mountain High School.   Mrs. Thorn grew up in Idaho and graduated from Idaho Falls High School.  After she graduated from high school, she attended at Ricks College and Brigham Young University.   Mrs. Thorn chose to work for Nebo School District so that she could be more involved with her children and have the same schedule.
