Senior Micala Pearson from Maple Mountain High School interns at Cedar Fort Publishing in Springville. In addition to reading manuscripts, she learns how to write and publish books.
“Well, I have learned the process of book making and how a writer writes a book and how it gets published,” said Pearson.
Micala loves to learn the process of book making and recommends working an internship.
Zach Haycock, Maple Mountain Junior, is an Intern at the Family Pet Hospital in Mapleton. He loves helping customers with their pets. Because of his love of animals, Haycock is very devoted to his work. Haycock himself has two Alaskan Malamutes. Haycock assists with surgeries, prepares fecal tests, takes care of and groom boarding dogs, and performs dental cleanings for dogs.
“It is much more challenging than I would have thought; but, I am devoted to this career and would enjoy working with animals,” said Haycock
Aimee Wright is a senior at MMHS working an internship with the W2 Design Group. She plans to attend Snow or Dixie College after high school to pursue her interests in design.
While she helps copy receipts, organize fabrics, analyze plans, and give ideas for paint colors and fabric designs, she is learning many facets about the design industry.
Wright is a part of many interesting experiences at W2 Design Group; such as, going to a client’s home and looking at designs and sharing ideas. Wright says that this internship has helped her realize many future career goals.
Kaitlin Schramm, senior at Maple Mountain High school, is currently interning at Hobble Creek Elementary. Schramm likes grade school and teaching because she loves being around children.
Schramm’s duties include helping students with math problems as well as collecting and grading papers. Something that was impactful for Schramm was when some of the girls in the class helped her complete an art project and they made her a name tag to display it. This made Schramm feel part of their class.
Tyson Skaggs, Maple Mountain High senior, is interning at Air Gyro. Skaggs has been studying about becoming a pilot by learning and studying a book called FAR-AIM. Skaggs has also helped build a plane.
A cool experience Skaggs has had while at Air Gyro is, “Crashing a simulator,” said Skaggs.
The internship program has been beneficial to Skaggs because he knows more about the airline industry.
“There’s nothing like being in the air,” said Skaggs.
