Maple Mountain’s Eaglebots took 2nd place at the FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics regional competition which included competitors from Idaho, Montana, Utah and Wyoming. The team had to design and create a robot that could hang tubes on racks with three rows and three columns. The top row was nine and a half feet in the air and worth three points.  At the end, the teams could deploy a “minibot” to climb a ten and a half foot pole, this competition was worth 30 points.

On April 12, the Maple Mountain Lady Golden Eagles softball played the Spanish Fork Dons. Spanish Fork won by 1 point, 13-14.  On April 19, Maple Mountain played Springville.  Springville won by 1 point,

4-5. Both the Spanish Fork and Springville games were very close, the opponent teams won only by a fraction of a second.   On April 22, the Lady Golden Eagles played the Salem Hills Skyhawks.  Salem Hills won by 9 points, 1-10.

Since the beginning of the season the Maple Mountain Soccer team has shown their dedication and gradual improvement on the field.  After being asked about their biggest improvement, teammate Zach Bailey replied, “We can score.”           

On Tuesday, April 19, the Golden Eagles took on the Payson Lions on the Lion’s home turf.  When asked before the game what they need to do to beat Payson, teammate Devon Jenson said, “We need to focus and pace the game our way.”

Cody Simpson from Maple Mountain High was chosen out of 1,000 ceramic art entrees to have his work shown in the National Ceramics Art Show.  Out of all the students that were selected to be in show, he was awarded two awards, one of them was first place of the National K-12 Ceramic Show.

Wednesday evening, April 20, Maple Mountain High’s two non-auditioned choirs (Men's and Women's Chorus) performed at the Region 8 "Training Choir" Festival at Springville High school.  Both choirs earned three straight superior ratings and qualified for the state choral festival in May.
