Golden Eagle Tennis still undefeated

On April 21, the Maple Mountain boys’ tennis team matched up against Spanish Fork High.  The weather was bad as usual so that meant the tennis team had to fight the Dons in the indoor courts at the fairgrounds.  The last time MMHS played SFHS, Maple Mountain was able to take a clean sweep and win 5-0, this time, the second time we have matched up, the Dons couldn’t let that happen.  Golden Eagles Second Varsity Singles Calder Groberg was able to beat his opponent in straight sets; the Third Varsity Singles Ryan Porter was also able to defeat his rival in straight sets.

The Maple Mountain Lady Golden Eagles golf team is well on their way to a successful season.  Playing on a consistent level as a team, with the girls steadily improving scores with each match, this team has made some noise in region competition.

“Our main goal for the season is to make it to state, and it looks like that’s going to happen,” said Head Coach Justin Nelson, “The other big goal is for each girl to improve her score with each match.”

Junior Sondra Novak is Maple Mountain High’s Prep of the Week.  Novak broke two school track records at the last meet.  Novak’s track participation includes shot put, javelin, sprint and high jump.  Novak said, “It is fun to watch all the meets because there are so many different events, and it’s a good environment with all the different people in one place doing the same things they love.”
