The Maple Mountain Track welcomed Salem Hills High, Spanish Fork High School, and Juab High School, as they hosted their first home meet Tuesday, March 30, 2010. Both the boys and girls teams had great performances; Maple Mountain defended their home turf and took home the win for both teams. The standout performances from the Golden Eagles were Spencer Hansen in the mile and two mile run, Parker Cressman in the long jump, Kelsie Hadlock in the mile run, and Jensen Williams in the 400 meter run. Despite gale force winds, the teams still came out and gave it their all and had a successful meet.

Our own Maple Mountain boys’ tennis team took on Salem Hills on Thursday March, 30. Even though the wind was unbearable, our Golden Eagles blew past the competition winning all of their matches and coming away with a 5-0 win. At first varsity singles, Chris Wiscombe won his match in a very convincing 6-1, 6-0 straight set victory.

Hard Loss for Maple Mountain Soccer

Maple Mountain boys soccer team played tough in their first region game on March 30, coming out with a loss of 2-1 against Salem Hills High.  Maple Mountain came out strong, but could not overcome the Skyhawk’s skills.  What was thought by most to be a shut out for Salem, Maple Mountain’s new team held them off, scored the first goal, and had possession of the ball for most of the game.  The game ended with a loss due to a debateable penalty kick, however, the boys competed with class and heart.

Hard work pays off for Maple Mountain’s Baseball team as they play their first opening game.   Baseball season started with the Sherm Bennet Memorial Tournament.  The Golden Eagles played hard; fighting to the final game of the tournament, in which they brought home second place--not an easy task since this is a new team, new school, new players, and a new coach.
