MMHS Girls Soccer

Many students and parents this year thought that all hope was lost for school sports. It seemed impossible to keep everybody safe with the current pandemic. But tryouts for teams were held and the year moved forward as normal. High school sports teams were organized and the seasons started! Sporting events are even allowing spectators, who are expected to wear a mask. Masks are not required for players on the field.

Maple Mountain Soccer has had an awesome season this year! The girls team practices every day, except friday and saturday and has games on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Eagles’ hardest games this year have been against Park City and Springville. They lost to both of those teams away, but the Eagles beat both of them at home. Maple Mountain took on Wasatch last Thursday at home. The Eagles defeated the Wasps 5-2. Maple mountain has a conference record of 10-2.

Mauri Ashman, a sophomore on the soccer team said, “Our strengths as a team are our possession and communication. We have always done well with those, and they have gotten a lot better throughout the season." She also said that she loves being on the high school team because of the fun environment with all of her teammates.

Remember to save the season and wear a mask!  Go Eagles!
