Shaved heads, shaving cream and silky smooth legs

While half of the Maple Mountain High student body is asleep in their beds, the swim team is hard at work practicing for their next meet. They sacrifice a lot by going to practice every morning at 5 a.m. and perfecting their skills for an hour at a time.

This hard work has paid off because they did really well on their first meet in October. Their best in distance is 200-500. They have one more meet before they go to region in Venta.

They have had one team dinner where almost all of them got together and they are doing this again to get closer and get to know one another more before region and they have made it a tradition to have a “shaving party” where the girls shave the guy’s heads and legs so it helps with their speed.

When asked what her goal for this year was, Alicia Pulido said, “My goal is to see our team improve from last year, we got so close to winning last year getting 2nd place. It would be great to see an improvement; and I highly recommend swimming to anyone who wants to try something new.”
