Maple Mountain FFA gave a gift of love to the Festival of Trees held in Sandy Utah. This year the officers chose the theme of "We Wish You a Rustic Christmas." Two of the senior boys, Shadoe Holm and Decker Nielson, designed and created the tree completely out of horse shoes. It took 200 horseshoes and 15 man hours to complete. The tree was simply decorated by the rest of the officer team with lights and garland. Burlap boxes were created to be put with the tree.
The officers delivered the tree Monday, December 1 to the South Towne Expo center. The trees are then auctioned off and all of the proceeds go to Primary Children's Medical Center. This year our tree was purchased by Tillotson Family Foundation for $2,000, which is an above average price of the trees at the Festival! The tree was on display for everyone to see and was a crowd and committee member favorite. The tree was also mentioned by a radio station as a must see tree at the festival.
We would like the thank H2 Welding and Cal Ranch for helping donate some of the products used in creating the tree. We look forward to working on a tree again and sharing a gift of love to those children who need it.
