Maple Mountain FFA competed at Area 5 FFA Contests January 29. These contests are the qualifiers for State and students competed against eight other schools.
Kathrine McInelly represented our chapter well in the Creed speaking contest. This contest is where students memorize a five paragraph creed and recite it to the judges. In addition to speaking, they are asked questions. Kathrine did a great job.
Malinda Olsen was named the winner in the Sheep Production proficiency. This award recognizes students for their achievements in the Supervised Agricultural Experience or project that they do outside of class time. Malinda currently owns nine head of ewes and leases twelve ewes from her brother. She has become proficient in all aspects of the sheep industry and hopes to continue her success.
Shadoe Holm was named the winner in the Environmental Science proficiency. He was recognized for his work with South Utah Valley Waste District where he ground green waste into a compostable product. Shadoe was also named the winner in the Agricultural Mechanics Design and Fabrication proficiency. He currently works for H2 Hobble Creek where he designs, fabricates, builds and installs a variety of welding projects. Shadoe will also represent our area in the State Star in Placement at state as well.
Maple Mountain FFA would like to congratulate Malinda and Shadoe and wish them luck at the state competition!
