Skyler was nominated by his math teacher, Mr. Thomas Marker and his Foreign Language teacher, Mr. Brad Burtenshaw. Skyler’s favorite subject is math, he says, “Because it has always been easy for me.” In five years, Skyler sees himself going on a LDS mission and attending BYU.

Skyler’s hobbies include playing the piano and cello, football and track, and hanging out with friends and family. The funniest thing that happened to him was when he was running for a touchdown in flag football--after accidently getting his pants ripped off!

Katie Card, sophomore, is one of Maple Mountain’s April Students of the Month. She was nominated by her science teacher, Mr. Cory Green and her foreign language teacher, Mr. Brad Burtenshaw.  Katie says her favorite subject is English because, “I could read for hours, and I also like to write.” In five years, Katie sees herself at BYU studying to work in an education field. Katie says that love for the library and writing essays makes her different and unique from everybody else.

Katie’s hobbies include playing the piano, reading, shopping, and most of all, playing soccer. The funniest thing that happened to Katie was when she tried to jump the badminton net and ended up tripping and falling. Katie says her favorite quote is, “I have failed many times, and that’s why I am a success,” she explains, “everyone fails and its okay.”

Colby Jeffers, junior, is one of Maple Mountain’s Students of the Month for April. Colby was nominated for student of the month by his PE teacher, Ms. Amber Hall. His favorite subject in school is Advanced Conditioning. When asked why, he says, “You lift, you have a chance to get ripped!” His favorite hobbies include baseball and football.

One of Colby’s funniest things that have ever happened to him was being nominated student of the month. He states, “I don’t think that I should be…but okay!”

What makes him different from everyone else?  He claims, “I can pull off a rockin’ mullet!  Not very many people can say that!”

He pictures himself in five years being a college student. If he could have a conversation with anyone in history, he says it would be Babe Ruth.  He would ask, “What was it like being the best of the best?” and “How did you get to that point?”

Robin Ballard

By Marissa Clegg, Golden Eagle Globe
Robin Ballard, senior, is one of Maple Mountain’s students of the month for April. Robin was nominated by Mrs. Mindy Hammond. Her favorite activity to do at school is to make fun of “P.D.A-ers” and sophomores.
When asked about what the funniest thing that happened to her, she states, “ You had to be there for pretty much everything.” Her favorite hobbies include painting fences, sweeping floors, catching fire with chopsticks, and beating up the bad guys.
What makes her different from everyone else? She says, “I’m a non conformist.  Or everything.”

In five years Robin wants to see herself happily married and being a mother of five. If she could have a conversation from anyone in history she would want to meet Jack the Ripper and ask, “Who the heck are you?”

Stuart Pendleton

Stuart admits that he leaves a lot up to chance. One of his favorite quotes is, “Let’s see what the coin says. When it comes to school, Stuart says he doesn’t have a favorite subject because they’re all great because “The teachers here are all amazing!” He also says he’s had his funniest moment in Psychology class during an experiment involving random words and a squirt bottle.
If Stuart could have a conversation with anyone in history, he would ask Ulysses S. Grant how he felt about the Civil War. Stuart believes he is different from everyone else because, “I am always finding something to laugh about.” Good job Student of the Month!
