Tori Nielsen, a senior at Maple Mountain, is currently interning at Mapleton Junior High School. While at MJHS, Nielsen observes the teacher, Mrs. Gleave, teaching math to her students. Some of her duties as an intern are to help students with their math problems when they have questions or don’t understand.

Nielsen says she is interested in this line of work because, “I have been around amazing teachers my whole life. They have had such an impact on my life, and I would love to do that for someone else.”

After working at MJHS for a term, Nielsen says she is still interested in this line of work.

“It’s a productive environment. I love teaching what I know, and the students are at such a fun age,” said Nielsen

One day there was a substitute and a lot of students had questions; she was able to help them.

When asked if the internship program has been beneficial, Nielsen responds, “It has been very beneficial to me. I wasn’t sure I wanted to go into education; but, through the internship program, I have learned that I really enjoy this line of work.”

After high school, Nielsen plans to attend Snow College.
