Mrs. Miner has always made herself accessible throughout all my high school years.  She’s happy and kind; I’ve never seen her without a smile on her face.  She is so willing to help and answer questions.  During my junior year, I changed my mind multiple times about what I was going to do my senior year.  I looked into a lot of different options such as MATC (where I could get my nail technician degree) or an internship (to give me a feel for a future career).  I went to Mrs. Miner with my questions and to get information whenever something came to mind.  Even though I returned to her office many times, she never made me feel like a nuisance or bother.  I could tell she truly wanted me and all other students at our school to succeed and reach their full potential.

She also influenced me in a more personal way.  One of my very good friends had both of her parents die.  I had found out at school and was unable to go to class because I was in so much pain for my friend and was very emotional.  Mrs. Miner was concerned not only for my friend (who had a different counselor), but also for me and other friends who might have been suffering as well.  She offered comfort and was willing to do anything she could to help.  That event showed me how much Mrs. Miner really cared.  She cares for the students at our school as people.  She wants us to be happy and have positive experiences.  She doesn’t just think of us as teenagers she is responsible for.  That is a quality I want to take with me when I become a teacher, the ability to let my students know I care about them as people, not just as a responsibility.  Mrs. Miner is a wonderful example of how someone in education should be.  She has been a great influence on me and has helped me get ready for college.  Any student would be lucky to have her as a counselor.
