On Friday, December 3, Hannah Savage competed in the “Make It With Wool” Utah state contest and won 2nd place in the Senior category. S he created and exhibited a houndstooth (a duotone textile pattern) knee length coat.

“The contest went really well and was a lot of fun,” said Savage

To compete in the contest you must construct an article of clothing to be presented in front of a panel of judges.  Contestants must model the article of clothing and answer questions about the piece of clothing and the experience.

Savage says, “Of course I will continue sewing!  I like creating outfits that fit and that I like.”

It took Savage two and a half months during her high school sewing class to create her product to be judged.  Her teacher is Mrs. Kathryn Crandall.

Savage has a word of advice for students who’d like to compete next year, “Start early and be confident if you want to compete.”
