Maple Mountain wrestling concluded its second season with a dual meet record of 34-3 and a second place trophy at the Utah State 4A Wrestling Tournament, quite an accomplishment for a new high school that opened just two years ago.  The mighty mat men scored 182 points at the state meet with 179 of those coming from under classmen.  Placing second in state wrestling is the highest finish for a Golden Eagles sports team.

Nine wrestlers placed at state including Brandon George, Britain Carter and Grant LaMont who all won individual state championship titles.  Austin Rowley, Jesse Carlisle and Logan Kinross placed third. Kimball Bastian placed fourth; Josh Searle and Trent Kelly both placed fifth. All nine placers will return again next year to assist the Golden Eagles at a successful run for a state championship.

During the season, the Golden Eagle wrestling team brought home several first place trophies from local tournaments including the Great Basin Grapple, the Millard Ironman Duals and the Maple Mountain Madness Tournament.  The team also placed 7th at the Reno Tournament of Champions which featured 84 teams from around the nation. In addition, Grant LaMont and Britain Carter earned All-American honors in Reno.

In addition to winning state silver, the Golden Eagles won the Region 8 wrestling title along with the coveted divisional wrestling title.
