On Wednesday, October 8, Maple Mountain High students in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and DECA (a Marketing club) toured Wing Enterprises (Little Giant Ladders) in Springville and APX Alarm in Provo.

Ryan Moss, CEO of Wing Enterprises, who has worked with Little Giant Ladders from the time he was 18 years old, conducted the tour of their innovations lab and manufacturing facility.   Wing Enterprises incorporates modern robots with traditional manufacturing techniques.   Students learned that although the Little Giant Ladder has been around for over 25 years, the company is continually innovating and developing new products for new markets.  Students were able to observe a new product being manufactured which is sold at Costco.

APX Alarm in Provo demonstrated the “people” side of a large service business; their company mission is, “Protecting Families.”   Matt Berrett, Director of Training, demonstrated the latest technologies that APX Alarm is providing to families in addition to traditional alarm systems; including controlling your house lights, heating, air conditioning, sprinklers, and security and from the internet or your mobile phone.   High school students were surprised to see so many local young college-age employees working for APX Alarm from customer service to technical support.

Jamie Farley, FBLA member said, “It was really interesting and fun to see how each business worked and operated. I learned a lot and met some really cool people; people that I could possibly work with in the future. It was a great experience and I am so glad I got to be a part of it.”

Kalin Wall, President of Maple Mountain’s FBLA said, “Seeing the different ways that businesses worked was really interesting. I learned new ways to build and maintain a business. Ryan and Matt were both really cool. Thank you so much little Giant Ladders and APX Alarms.”
