All five Miss Drill Utah soloists for MMHS

Five Ellevés competed in the annual Miss Drill Utah Solo Competition on Thursday, October 21 at Mountain Ridge High School. There were 156 girls from drill teams across the state that were competing in the competition. The girls competed in different dance genres and in their school classification; but then 17 girls were chosen based on their overall scores as semifinalists to compete for the title of Miss Drill Utah.

The five Ellevés competing were: Cheyenne Ortiz, Kynslie Lewis, Madi Goulding, Oaklee Tingey, and Lauren Taylor. Each of the girls placed in their category. Cheyenne Ortiz placed 4 th in the 5A Lyrical B category; Kynslie Lewis placed 2 nd in the 5A Jazz B category; Madi Goulding placed 3 rd in the 5A /Contemporary A category; Oaklee Tingey placed 1 st in the 5A Contemporary C category; and Lauren Taylor placed 2nd in the 5A Contemporary C category.

Madi Goulding and Oaklee Tingey were named as two of the Top 17 finalists and competed in the Miss Drill finals. They performed their solos again along with answering an onstage question and performed an improv/spotlight of their dance technique and skills.

Four finalists and the Miss Drill Queen were selected. Madi Goulding was named the 4 th runner up. This is the first time a MMHS Ellevé has made the top 5 at the
Miss Drill Utah Solo Competition!

Congratulations to all five of these girls for representing Maple Mountain so well! They will all be competing in future solo competitions that are part of the team competitions the team will be competing in soon.
