MMHS Cheerleaders Qualify for Nationals

Submitted by tyler.lewis on

Last Saturday, the MMHS Cheerleaders competed in the USA State Cheer Competition held at Timpview High School. They competed in the highest division possible, and placed fourth overall. The MMHS Cheerleaders competed against the very hardest teams in the state and beat the three other Region 8 teams that participated in the competition, which were Timpanogos, Orem, and Springville.

Cheer competitions are divided into categories based on the talent and size of the team. The categories are: Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced, with sizes being: Small, Medium, and Large. Our MMHS cheerleaders competed in the Small Advanced category. Their routine, choreographed by Caitlyn Dahl, was full of talented tricks including: layouts, tucks, fulls, stretches, scorpions, double downs, kick fulls, etc. This may sound like gibberish to some, but to the cheer world these are the most elite tricks a squad can possibly do.

In order to compete in the USA Nationals Competition, our cheerleaders had to get a superior rating overall, which they did. They will be competing at Nationals this upcoming March in California.

Congratulations Maple Mountain Cheerleaders, for being the top team in the region, and one of the top teams in the state!
