On April 21, the Maple Mountain boys’ tennis team matched up against Spanish Fork High.  The weather was bad as usual so that meant the tennis team had to fight the Dons in the indoor courts at the fairgrounds.  The last time MMHS played SFHS, Maple Mountain was able to take a clean sweep and win 5-0, this time, the second time we have matched up, the Dons couldn’t let that happen.  Golden Eagles Second Varsity Singles Calder Groberg was able to beat his opponent in straight sets; the Third Varsity Singles Ryan Porter was also able to defeat his rival in straight sets. Chris Wiscombe, The First Varsity Singles was able to beat Cade Sermershime the first time they met, but the second time, Chris couldn’t pull off the win.  Wiscombe lost 4-6, 4-6 in a tough battle.  First Doubles Nick W. Taylor and Kevin Rose, and Second Doubles Cameron Spilker and Mckay Luu were able to beat their opponents.  Overall Maple Mountain was still able to get the win over Spanish Fork with the 4-1 record.  So far this season Maple Mountain is undefeated.

On Apirl 26, Maple Mountain High’s tennis team took the long drive to Vernal to play the Uintah Utes.  After the drive and cleaning the rain puddles off the courts, the two teams were ready to fight out the battle.  All players on Maple Mountain’s tennis team was able to beat the Utes and get the win 5-0.

Maple Mountain had their last home match and last region match of the season on April 28.  They played Salem Hills High and were able to get the win with a 4-1 score.   The Maple Mountain Golden Eagles boys tennis team took the region championship with a 10-0 record. They now look forward to the region tournament on May 6.  After the region tournament there will be a tri-region tournament on May 13 and 14.
