Last Tuesday at Maple Mountain High School our Golden Eagles not only hosted the Region VIII Cross Country Meet, but took home both the Boys and Girls Region Titles for the second year in a row. This back-to-back championship team worked harder than any other school to achieve this season-long goal.
“What impressed me most was how the individuals were able to rally together and lift the team as a whole,” said Coach Darrell Wyatt. “It was a wonderful team effort top to bottom.”
The team effort was definitely present, as teammates lined the course, cheering for their teammates during each race. Lady Golden Eagles swept the JV Girls race as well, placing 1st through 14th individually. The Boys JV also raced well, placing 3rd in the top 10.
“It all comes back to coaching. We couldn’t have gotten anywhere without the Coach’s Wyatt and Barker,” says teammate Olin Andersen. This, combined with the team’s desire to win, definitely paid off.
