Because of her interest in the “blood and guts” of the medical field, senior Merika Olsen interns at the Mountain View Hospital emergency room. As an intern, Olsen stocks linens and other supplies, strips and remakes beds, retrieves certain things, and is even permitted to watch certain procedures.
“I love working in the emergency room,” says Olsen. “I love it when the days are really busy and there is a lot of action going on. I have gotten to see a lot of cool, bloody things, and even a dead body.”
Her plans for the future include attending BYU to get her degree in nursing and eventually getting a job in the medical field. Serving as an intern has only helped to increase her desire to go into the medical field.
Olsen says. “I think it is a very good experience for everyone to see if they really like the job they are wanting to go into.”
