Students learn about environmental testing

Maple Mountain High School hosted their monthly Window on the Workplace seminar on Monday, April 26, 2010. Guest speaker, Brent Benson, from American Environmental Testing came to speak to students about careers in environmental science and engineering. Mr. Benson spoke about his careers and his path to owning his own company. He advised the students to take an Accounting class or two as it will help them in running their own business.    “It will help you to save and pay taxes. You need to know how to bank, use credit, how to apply for a loan, and do payroll,”   he advised.   Mr. Benson also gave the students some insight into careers in chemical engineering and environmental sciences. He said after a recent visit to the University of Utah’s chemical engineering department, he found that most of the seniors there have four job offers waiting for them as they leave. He encouraged students to start now to conserve renewable resources. We’re grateful to Mr. Benson for taking the time to come speak to our students about these career choices.
