On Tuesday, January 19, the Maple Mountain High School Varsity Girls’ basketball team had an intense and challenging game against Spanish Fork High School which ended in favor of the Lady Dons 50-43. The Lady Golden Eagles had a slow start against Spanish Fork letting them out score them by six in the first quarter.  But as the game continued, the girls certainly found the motivation they needed to end the second quarter with Maple Mountain outscoring Spanish Fork by 3. The Lady Golden Eagles went into the half cutting Spanish Forks lead in half.      Maple Mountain’s Head Coach, Cory Green, gave the girls the talk they needed for the third quarter.  In the third quarter, the Golden Eagles outscored the Dons  by one point.  Only down by two points, Maple Mountain had the chance to take an amazing win from Spanish Fork.  Once the fourth quarter started, the girls came out looking good until one of Spanish Fork’s players, Erin Redd, became” redd” hot with a total of 15 points at the end of the game.  Spanish Fork ended up out scoring Maple Mountain 15 to 10 with the final score at 50-43.     In the end, free throws won the game. Maple Mountain had two additional field goals than Spanish Fork, but only made 4 of 10 free throws while Spanish Fork made 15 of 28. The Maple Mountain girls definitely played a tough and exciting game.  Some of the Maple Mountain girls had a really good game such as Kelsey Lewis with 13 points with a 3 point shot, Jessica Benson with 8 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 steals, and  Aleska Gappmayer with 9 points.   Please support the Lady Golden Eagles at their next game against Salem Hills in Salem on Tuesday, January 26, at 5:15 pm.
