Last weekend Grant LaMont not only represented Maple Mountain and Utah, but also represented the U.S.A. at the World Championships in Greco Roman Wrestling in Baku, Ajerbaijan. Grant placed 10th in the world. Congratulations, Grant!

Prep of the Week - Kennedee Tracy

Jr. forward Kennedee Tracy is our first "Prep of the Week" for the 2012-2013 school year at Maple Mountain High School. Kennedee has scored eight goals so far this year to help her Golden Eagle team to a  4 - 1 record  Kennedee is a super player who also leads by example. Congratulations Kennedee and good luck to you and the Lady Eagles the rest of the year.

FCCLA Student Awarded Scholarship

Sarie Cook, a student at Maple Mountain High School in Nebo School District, participated in the Early Childhood competition. Sarie was given a topic and then used available materials to write a lesson plan for Early Childhood Education. Sarie received a gold medal for her Early Childhood Education – Focus on the Children lesson plan, scoring above 90 percent. Her score placed her in the top three among her competitors nationwide and she was awarded a scholarship from Kendall College, located in Chicago, Illinois.

FFA Closing Banquet

The Maple Mountain FFA held their 2011-2012 closing banquet on May 9. It was a night packed with thanks, awards, and motivational speeches by our own FFA members. It was also where the 2012-2013 Officer team was announced.

New Intersection to affect Graduation

The intersection at the UVU entrance has been re-designed, and will open just in time to affect the commute of those attending our high school graduations and practices held there. This new intersection type is the first of its kind in Utah County. UDOT has provided some helpful preview information in the Continuous Flow Intersection document provided by UDOT. MMHS Ellevés Showcase

The MMHS Ellevés Drill Team will hold their third annual showcase on Friday, May 4, 2012 at 7:00 p.m. in the MMHS auditorium. The showcase will feature an introduction of all of the members of the Ellevés. Performances will include their award-winning competition routines in the areas of hip hop, lyrical, military, dance, and character. There are also a few new routines that will be part of the show including an officer’s routine, a new lyrical piece, and solos by some of the Ellevés.

Awards at National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition

Congratulations to Nik Simpson and Maddy Sherman for earning awards at the National K-12 Ceramic Exhibition. Nik received the Bailey Pottery & Ceramic Supply Award and the Orton Foundation Award for his bottles titled "Spring Growth." Maddy received the Curator Book Award for her tea set titled "Slabbed Tea."
