What is your favorite quote, and why?

“Don’t only practice your art, but force your way into its secrets. For it and knowledge can raise men to the Divine.” –Ludwig Van Beethoven.

Ever since I heard this quote a few years ago, it has struck me as very powerful and applicable to anything you do. As I have applied myself in the various areas of my life, whether it be music, school or theatre, I have seen myself raised up to levels of success and fulfillment.

Where do you want to see yourself in five years?

I want to be attending BYU. I’m hoping to study technical theatre and work on the technical crew at BYU. I also want to participate in one of the orchestras at BYU, as well as a couple of other classes I want to take, such as Russian.

What are your favorite hobbies?

Some of my favorite hobbies include reading books, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends. I especially like the stories that Brandon Sanderson writes. I also love to practice my violin in my spare time.

What is the funniest thing that has ever happened to you?

I have a sister who is three years older than me. When I was in 9th grade and she was a senior, we were in an extracurricular orchestra that started in September. She played the flute, and she got to know one of the clarinet players, Ben, really well. I also because his friend throughout the year, since he knew Maren, and I hung out with her during breaks. In the beginning of April, our orchestra went on tour, where we spent a lot of time on the bus together. On the very first day, Maren and I were talking with a group of people, which included Ben and another guy named Christian. When Christian mentioned that he was a freshman, I said “Woo hoo! Go Freshman!” Ben looked at me with a weird expression on his face. “Wait, you are a freshman?” he asked. “Yeah,” I replied. He looked over at Maren and exclaimed, “I thought you were twins!” We died laughing. He thought we were twins for almost 8 months, and for the rest of the tour, he called us the “not-twins.”

What makes you different from everyone else?

I love school. I love learning. There aren’t a lot of teenagers who really love school and excel in it. I do really well in my classes and everyone tells me I am super smart, but I like to use my knowledge to help others succeed in class as well. Another thing that makes me different is my willingness to serve others. I love to help others, whether it be with homework or cleaning or babysitting. It is a part of who I am.

If you could have a conversation with anyone from history, who would it be and what would you ask them?

I would choose my great-grandma Hart. My mom really loved her and looked up to her because she was an amazing woman. I would love to get to meet her and get to know her, just have a normal conversation. Either that or just be able to watch her as she lived her life and see what qualities she had that made her so amazing so I could be a better person like she was.

What is your favorite subject in school and why?

I have a lot of favorite subjects because I like school. I enjoy being able to figure out problems in math. I love to play my violin in orchestra and participate in all the concerts and performances. I also love technical theatre; it is so fun to build sets and work lights and know what’s going on behind the scenes for plays and musicals.
