February students of the month are Maddy McMurdie, Bradley Clawson, Susan Nelson, Kayla Adams, Channing Merrill, Nick Langford, and Sylvee Rucker.
Maddy McMurdie Is a sophomore at Maple Mountain. Her hobbies include hanging out with her friends and family, painting nails, taking pictures, shopping, and playing soccer. Maddy’s favorite subjects in school are Health and Child Development.
Maddy said, “I’m really not different than other people I just try to look for the good in others and just try to be friendly.” She is living up to what her favorite quote says. “If you judge people, you have no time to love them.”
If she could have a conversation with anyone from history she said it would be Eleanor Roosevelt. “She amazes me. I would ask her about her childhood and what made her help out so much.”
Bradley Clawson, a senior in Maple Mountain, enjoys soccer, cooking delicious food, dating, and catching up on his sleep. Bradley’s favorite quote is, “The biggest sin in life is wasting time.”
Bradley sees himself in five years, when he is 23, is off his mission, working on his master’s degree, and possibly engaged to his bride to be.
Bradley is different from everyone else by thinking of things objectively and always putting forth his best effort in all he does.
Susan Nelson is a junior at Maple Mountain High. Something that makes Susan different from everyone else is that she sleepwalks, is scared of deep water because she thinks a big fish will eat her, and she has nightmares about marching band. Susan enjoys music, reading, drawing/painting, ceramics, and gardening. One of her favorite subjects in school is ceramics, “I enjoy ceramics because there aren’t many rules. I can be creative (and it relieves stress), and it makes me very happy.”
In five years she sees herself on an LDS Mission and having two or more years of college completed. One of Susan’s favorite quotes is, “There are two types of people--those who come into a room and say, ‘well here I am!’ and those who come in and say, ‘ah, there you are.’” She thinks it’s important to be focused on other people and get over ourselves in order to care more about others, which makes everyone happier.
Kayla Adams is a senior at Maple Mountain High. Something that makes Kayla different from everyone else is her height, her friends, her sense of humor, her goals, dreams, and ambitions. Adams enjoys playing game sports and cards with friends, reading, eating good food, piano, and working. One of Adam’s favorite subjects in school is photography because she has friends in that class, and it makes it more fun.
In five years she sees herself finishing an LDS Mission, finishing her Bachelor’s degree, and learning to be a registered nurse. One of Susan’s favorite quotes is, “I know God wouldn’t give me anything I can’t handle. I just wish He didn’t trust me so much.”
Channing Merrill is a sophomore at Maple Mountain High School. His favorite hobbies are football, basketball, and snowboarding. Channing’s favorite subject in school is PE, because he likes to run and play sports. In five years he sees himself at Utah Valley University.
His favorite quote is, “Pain is weakness leaving the body.” He likes this quote because it helps make him work harder.
Nick Langford is a junior at Maple Mountain High School. He enjoys golf and rock-climbing. Langford’s favorite subject in school is Math, because it makes sense to him. If he could have a conversation with anyone it would be his brother Matt. He once scalped himself on a fence. Something that sets him apart from everyone else is that he is really tall.
Nick’s favorite quote is, ‘There are a million other things I’d like to say, but there are not enough letters in my alphabet today.” Nick likes this quote because “it‘s simple.”
Sylvee Rucker is a junior at Maple Mountain High School. She enjoys learning, dancing, playing cello, reading, writing, drawing, photography, singing, acting, and snowboarding. Rucker’s favorite subject in school is math and science.
Sylvee says, “I really love the universality of math because it’s the same in every language. I’m also in love with biology and the ocean, the complexity of the marine life system and the beauty of natural life. Biology is my life blood.”
