Maple Mountain FFA would like to recognize their 2010-2011 officer team.

Kinsey Williams is proud to be serving as FFA President. Williams has grown up in the agriculture industry and has developed a love for the lifestyle. She tried out for the officer team in hopes of getting the opportunity to become a great leader in a well known organization she has always had a tie to. Williams joined FFA after watching her older brother go through the program and have many opportunities open up shortly after. Williams’ SAE would fall in the diversified agriculture category: she raises two Angus Maine Anjou cattle annually to exhibit at the local livestock shows around the state, she grows a 5 acre crop of wheat and works at the Producer’s Livestock Feedlot. Williams has participated on the horse judging team, livestock judging team and the floriculture team. She plans on attending Utah State University where she will obtain a Master’s Degree in Agriculture Education or Agribusiness.

Keeping our chapter amused, Dillon Hales is serving as Vice President. Hales joined the officer team to show leadership and be an example to others. He always keeps us entertained on the long bus rides with his many stories and “would you rather” games. Hales raises beef cattle as his Beef Production SAE. He has been a member of the FFA organization since his freshman year. Hales plans on attending Utah Valley University or Utah State University shortly following a mission he will serve for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Dillon shows his competitive side through the many contests that the FFA organizes. When asked who his role model is he replied with, “Ned Hales,” who is his grandpa.

Organization is the key to a successful FFA Chapter and we couldn’t have been so successful without our Secretary, Jessica Bills. Bills loved being involved in the FFA and wanted to reach new heights by being part of the officer team.  Bills raises chickens for her SAE project. She likes to be involved and was excited to participate in the Job Interview CDE and also the Forestry CDE. She plans to attend Utah Valley University or Weber State to get her degree as a nurse anesthetist. Bills has been involved in FFA for the last three years. When asked why she joined the FFA she replied, “I love being involved and the FFA provided a lot of activities that involve people in the agriculture field.”

Encouraging thrift among the members and striving to build up our financial standings, Mikayla Nusink is serving as our Treasurer.  It has been a family tradition to join the FFA and Nusink wanted to further her involvement by learning valuable leadership skills through serving on the chapter officer team. Nusink participates in high school rodeo and also exhibits show steers at the local livestock show. Nusink has been a member of the FFA organization for the last two years and is currently participating on the horse judging team. Nusink plans on attending Utah State University and getting a degree in Equine Science, she would like to eventually open her own equine massage therapy business.

Striving to inform the community about the FFA organization, Taylor Johnson is serving as our Reporter. Johnson joined FFA to gain career opportunities and personal growth. Taylor Johnson and Ciara Moosman placed third at the state level in the Agri. Science Fair this year. Johnson loves the outdoors and enjoys trapshooting. Johnson aspires to become an Ag. Teacher after attending Utah State University. Johnson enjoys the many trips the FFA members attend and she enjoys meeting new friends.

Always the first to extend a warm welcome, Shania Steele is serving as our Sentinel. Steele loves being a leader and enjoys planning activities. Currently Steele is raising a pig to exhibit at the livestock show. Steele has recently joined the meats judging team that will represent the Maple Mountain FFA at State CDEs. Steele would love to become a master gardener. She hopes to attend Utah State University shortly after graduation; Steele enjoys Animal Science and would like to become an Ag. Teacher.
