Maple Mountain girls basketball has been successful this winter season with a current record of 8-3.

Last Tuesday, January 4, the game against Juab was intense, but Maple Mountain ended with the win 46-40. Aleksa Gappmayer poured in 16 points while Baylee Nielsen scored in 11 points and 9 boards.

In December, Gappmayer was chosen as the Maple Mountain Prep of the Week due to her outstanding performances and team leadership.

“Our toughest game that we’ve played so far is American Fork; and, I think Springville and Salem Hills will be our toughest yet.” said Nielsen

Head Coach Cory Green remarked on the team’s progress from last year, “They’ve improved on everything but mainly they have a year more of experience of understanding offense and defense.”

“We’re older, have more experience and play as a team,” said Gappmayer.

The Lady Golden Eagles will face the Spanish Fork Dons at home on Friday, January 21, 5:15 p.m.
