Jessica Pratt Wins Silver at Largest International Science Fair

Congratulations to Jessica Pratt from Maple Mountain High School who competed at International Sustainable World Energy, Engineering, Environment Project (ISWEEEP),  the largest international science fair in the world this past weekend, May 3-8, 2017, in Houston Texas. Jessica won a silver medal and $400 dollars where competed against students from around the world.

At the state level, Jessica Pratt took First Place in the Earth & Environmental Science category with her project, Analysis of Heavy Metal Deposits from American Fork Reservoir. Jessica won four special awards for her project: American Meteorological Society Award, Association for Women Geoscientists Award, NASA Earth System Science Award, and U.S. Metric Association for ethics best use of (SI) Metric System Award. Jessica was selected as one of two students to compete at the ISWEEEP competition with an all-expense paid trip to Houston, Texas.

Adam Syndergaard also took First Place in the Physics, Astronomy, & Mathematics category with his project, Micropattern Gas Electron Multiplier. Adam won a U.S. Navy/U.S. Marine Corps Award and an $80,000 scholarship to Westminster College. Adam was selected as one of four students to compete at Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) with an all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles, California May 14-19, 2017.
