MMHS is proud to announce the January students of the month!

In five years, sophomore Jen Baker sees herself in college at the University of Southern California studying film production and maybe returned from an LDS mission. She likes all subjects in school and thinks all of her teachers are amazing. She loves learning something and applying it to various things, like science and Star Trek, or using English, TV production, and history to create movie.

Her favorite quote is, “The more you like yourself, the less you are like anyone else, which makes you unique” –Walt Disney. Jen likes this quote because it’s important for everyone to realize how much he or she has to offer. A few things that make Jen different than everyone else is that she is caring and tries to make friends with everyone and make them feel special.

Jen’s hobbies are watching Star Trek and Shakespeare. The funniest thing that happened to her was when she was little girl she was obsessed with the Lion King. One day her family was on vacation at St. George, and they were swimming at the hotel pool. As she was prowling around the hot tub acting like a lion, another hotel guest asked what her name was. Naturally, she replied “MUFASA!” The guest then gave my parents a “you’d-really-do-that” look and put us on his mental “weirdo list.”

If Jen could have a conversation with anyone from history she’d talk to Walt Disney. She’d pull a Mr. Moss on him and ask if he considers movies art or entertainment. Or she’d ask him what he thought was the important thing to remember when creating movies or stories.

Sophomore Anthony Scoma sees himself in fives years in college studying to be a lawyer. The funniest thing that happened to Anthony was when he kicked a girl’s backpack he thought he knew, and when she turned around it wasn’t her so he flinched and ran away. His favorite subject in school is history because it is interesting to learn how the human race has evolved and changed over time.

His favorite quote is “Nine hundred years of time and space I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before.” –Dr. Who. Anthony likes it because it reminds him that you should treat everyone well.

Anthony’s favorite hobbies are playing guitar, reading, and watching TV. If he could have a conversation with anyone in history, he would like to talk to Jesus and ask, “What’s the meaning of life?”

In five years, junior Kaitlynn Hopkins sees herself in college studying to be a therapist or a pediatrician. One of her favorite classes is math because it is easy for her.

Her favorite quote is, “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, but today is a gift. That is why they call it the present.“ It reminds Kaitlynn to not let what happened yesterday effect what you do today. One couple Kaitlynn would like to meet in history is her great grand parents. She would ask them what advice they would give her for life.

Kaitlynn’s favorite hobbies are volleyball, and scrapbooking. Something that makes her different from everyone else is that she is caring and doesn’t just want to get by. She wants to do the best she can.

Junior Colin Mather sees himself going to college in five years. He doesn’t have a favorite class, but if he had to choose two, it would definitely be Spanish with Mr. Burtenshaw and history with Mr. Miner because every day in their classes is a party.

His favorite quote is, “Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you” –Dr. Seuss. Colin loves this quote because he thinks Dr. Seuss is trying to tell us that we are all unique, each in our own way. If he could have a conversation with anyone in history, Colin would want to talk to his grandpa who died from cancer before he was born.

One thing that sets Colin apart from everyone else is the he likes to have a positive outtake on life and make the best of every thing. Colin’s hobbies are playing basketball and camping.

Senior Sara Munson wants to be married and/or in college in five years. Her favorite subjects in school are her art and writing classes. She has also come to love American Sign Language.

Her favorite quote is, “Live like today is your last day.” A few things that make Sara different from everyone else is that she is left handed, but she uses different hands for different things. She also loves archery and making people laugh.

Sara’s favorite hobbies are reading, writing stories and poems, ceramics, playing video games, playing guitar. A funny thing that happened to Sara was when she hit herself in the face with a badminton racket.

In five years, senior Zachary Medved sees himself in medical school on his way to become a pediatric oncologist. His favorite quote is, “When 99% of you say give up and 1% say keep going, listen to the 1%” - Mrs. Vallarta. Zachary likes this quote because how successful you are in life is directly related to how determined you are.

His favorite subject in school is anything to do with science because he really understands science, and it is interesting to him. Some of Joshua’s hobbies are sleeping, exercising, and watching Netflix.

Something that makes Zachary different from everyone else is that he doesn’t like ice cream. Zachary says, “Everyone seems to love it, but I really do not.” The funniest thing that happened to him was this fall when he got his tonsils out. 3 hours after he got out of surgery he was at home asleep on the couch, and his mom was cleaning a shelf above him. She knocked a candle off the shelf, and it hit him in the head and cut his head pretty bad.
