MMHS is proud to announce the December students of the month!

In five years, sophomore Bianca Bardsley sees herself having two years of college behind her and preparing for her very own two-year adventure. She likes all her classes because she loves what she is learning in them and thinks all her teachers are excellent.

Her favorite quote is, “If you don’t like something, change it. If you can’t change it, then change the way you think about it.” A few things that make Bianca different than everyone else is that she loves learning and seeking out knowledge.

Bianca’s hobbies are playing tennis, reading fiction novels, and marching band. The funniest thing that happened to her was after she had just read about H bombs (hydrogen) and A bombs (atomic), she asked her dad how big the “F” bomb was.

Sophomore Adam Warnick sees himself in fives years in college working hard on getting a degree. The funniest thing that happened to him was when he and his mom were at Maceys and as they were getting in the car, his mom give him some money to give to a guy that was holding a cup by the door. Adam walked up to him to give him the money, but the guy said, “It’s just water.”

His favorite quote is “Politics: A combination of poli, meaning many, and tics, meaning irritating little bugs.” Adam likes this quote not because it imparts any wisdom or inspiration but is humorous and provides insight on the silliness of society.

Adam’s favorite hobby is running, reading, skiing, and music. If he could have a conversation with anyone in history, he would like to listen to Richard Feynman talk about physics. Physics is Adam’s favorite subject in history because he finds it interesting and enjoys learning about it.

In five years, junior Madeline Williams sees herself married and working hard in college. One of her favorite classes is sports psychology because she is constantly learning, and Coach Wyatt is an awesome teacher. Also, the class has helped Madeline with her basketball game!

Her favorite quote is, “I’ve got a theory that if you give 100% all the time, somehow things will work out in the end.” –Larry Bird. She likes that quote because she believe it is true, and she loves Larry Bird. One person Madeline would like to meet in history is Gordon B. Hinckley because to her he seemed like a jolly fellow, and she would love to have a conversation with him.

Madeline’s favorite hobbies are basketball and violin. Something that makes her different from everyone else is that she loves working hard because it makes her happy. She also doesn’t hide her emotions and is real with everyone.

Junior Scott Johnson sees himself helping soldiers recover after deployment as an air force psychologist. History is his favorite subject because Scott enjoys learning about the past.

His favorite quote is, “Victory comes to those who believe.” Scott likes this quote because he thinks that if you don’t believe in yourself, you can’t win. If he could have a conversation with anyone in history, Scott would like to talk to Franklin D. Roosevelt so he could ask him how he led a nation to victory even with his failing health.

One thing that sets Scott apart from everyone else is, as he says, his “DNA.” The funniest thing that has happened to him was when he got stuck on It’s a Small World ride at Disneyland.

Senior Lindsey Bagley wants to be done with college in five years and maybe working as a yoga or aerobics instructor or elementary school teacher. Her favorite subject in school is English because she loves stories and any form of reading or writing. It is a way for her to see the world without leaving Mapleton.

“Nothing is good or bad, thinking only makes it so.” – Shakespeare. This is Lindsey’s favorite quote because she thinks it is true. She thinks your attitude and the way you feel toward something is entirely up to you. One thing that makes her different from everyone else is that Lindsey likes to hang out with old people, and she likes trees.

Lindsey’s favorite hobbies are dancing, riding horses, boating, reading, doing anything outdoors, laughing, and finding pennies on the sidewalk. A funny thing that happened to Lindsey was when she had a sleepover at a friend’s house and sleepwalked into her friend’s sister’s room. When her friend woke up she couldn’t find Lindsey, so she got her mom and they both had a panic attack because they couldn’t find Lindsey.

Lindsey would like to have a conversation with Dr. Seuss and ask him what came first, the chicken or the egg?

In five years, senior Joshua Gregg sees himself returned from an LDS mission, attending BYU, and majoring in physics. His favorite quote is, “I have no special talents. I am only passionately curious.” –Albert Einstein. He likes this quote because it means you don’t need natural gifts, only a desire to improve.

His favorite subject in school is physics because it “assuages my desire to understand the universe around me.” Some of Joshua’s hobbies are snowboarding, mountain biking, and playing the cello.

Something that makes Joshua different from everyone else is that he works hard and gets involved in a wide variety of activities. The funniest thing that happened to Joshua was on the first day of kindergarten, his sister and him got on the wrong bus home. They hung out at a fellow student’s house eating popsicles until their mom came to pick them up.
