December Students of the Month

MMHS is proud to announce the December students of the month!

In five years, sophomore Bianca Bardsley sees herself having two years of college behind her and preparing for her very own two-year adventure. She likes all her classes because she loves what she is learning in them and thinks all her teachers are excellent.

Prep of the Week - Jon Wixom

Jonathon Wixom is this week's MMHS "Prep of the Week." Jonathon has been a mainstay wrestler for the Golden Eagles all season. He is undefeated in the state and is a big reason the wrestling team is ranked #1 in all classifications.  Congratulations Jonathon, and good luck the rest of the season!

MMHS Ellevés Win Sweepstakes Trophy at Jordan Beet Classic

The MMHS Ellevés competed at The Jordan Beet Classic, held at Jordan High School on Saturday, December 15. The Ellevés competed in the Hip Hop, Military, Dance, and Kick categories. There were nine schools competing in the 4A division; 28 total schools ranging from 1A – 5A.

The Ellevés won 1st place in the Hip Hop category, 1st place in the Military category, 1st place in the Kick category, and 2nd place in the Dance category. They were also awarded the Sweepstakes Trophy for having the top scores out of all the other teams competing.

DECA

On December 5th the Maple Mountain DECA club competed against 500 other students from Utah. Maple Mountain High DECA club is proud to announce that we had three students place in their respective topics: Miriam Cole and Katrina Cole finished third in Hospitality Services, and Brayden Jackman finished 2nd in Hotel and Lodging Management.  We are looking forward to competing in the regional invitational and state competition later this year.

Prep of the Week - Aleksa Gappmayer

Girls basketball standout Aleksa Gappmayer is our first winter sports "Prep of the Week." Aleksa has led her team to a 4-0 record so far and averages 29 points a game while also pulling down 9 rebounds and 6 steals per game. Congratulations Aleksa on an outstanding season so far, and good luck the rest of the season.

Ellevés First Competition a Success

The MMHS Ellevés competed in their first competition of the season, The UVU
Invitational Drill Team Competition, at UVU on Saturday, December 9. The Ellevés
competed in the Hip Hop, Military, Dance, and Kick categories. There were ten
schools competing in the 4A division.

FFA Donates to the Festival of Trees

Maple Mountain FFA gave a Gift of Love to the 2012 Festival of Trees. The Festival of Trees is an event where business, individuals, and groups donate trees, wreaths, quilts, and other items. The items are then auctioned off to the highest bidder. One-hundred percent of funds raised at the Festival of Trees benefits children cared for at Primary Children’s Medical Center.

FFA Students Attend Utah Leadership Conference

Eight students from Maple Mountain FFA recently attend the Utah Leadership Conference. They had the opportunity to travel to Richfield, Utah where the state had brought in presenters from throughout the state and nation. They attend workshops and learned how to be a better person and leader. Sean CotaMalinda Olsen, RJ Giles, McKay Hales, Wyatt Haycock, Megan Lazenby, Decker Nielson, and Courtnie Perkins attend the workshop. They are exited to bring the information back to the members and help build the chapter.
