Alysa Skousen

Maple Mountain student Alysa Skousen has had a chance to work with some very special kids. Alysa interns at Spanish Oaks Elementary with the special-education preschool. She has the opportunity to help, teach, and entertain children in need. 
Alysa decided to try this line of work after helping with the peer tutor class last year and decided that her love for the class and for children pointed to this type of work. 

FCCLA “STAR” Competitors

Maple Mountain FCCLA chapter recently had four of its members compete at the state convention in STAR events.  STAR Events (Students Taking Action with Recognition) are competitive events in which members are recognized for proficiency and achievement in chapter and individual projects, leadership skills, and career preparation.  Shannon Davies, senior, received Silver in Job Interview; Jessica Barson, sophomore, received Silver in Career Investigation; Rebekah Jackson, sophomore, received Gold in Fashion Construction; and, Morgan Smith, sophomore, received Gold in Interior Design.  

Students learn about environmental testing

Brent Benson_American Environmental Testing

Maple Mountain High School hosted their monthly Window on the Workplace seminar on Monday, April 26, 2010. Guest speaker, Brent Benson, from American Environmental Testing came to speak to students about careers in environmental science and engineering. Mr. Benson spoke about his careers and his path to owning his own company. He advised the students to take an Accounting class or two as it will help them in running their own business.
