Students go to band to be themselves and work hard at being the best they can be. They create wonderful music and perform to the best of their abilities. Mr. Hurst, the band director, makes the learning environment welcoming and fun. He pushes them to be the best they can be and all the students have been improving and growing. The program is a team effort. It doesn’t work well if they aren’t working together. Everyone puts in their time and practices, and the effort really shows when they perform.

Mrs. Carlson, physics teacher

The teachers at Maple Mountain are some of the best in existence. It’s always a sad day to see a loved teacher go. This year we had to say goodbye to Mr. Miller, the physics teacher. We wish him the best.

Who would we have to fill his shoes? The newest teacher on our Maple Mountain Staff is Mrs. Carlson! She took over the position as our physics teacher, but she also has the ability to teach chemistry if needed. Having graduated from BYU, Mrs. Carlson is well equipped to teach our students.

The cheer team practicing their routines.

Our cheer team here at MMHS work hard and spend a lot of time practicing.  They practice on B days from 6:30 a.m. until the end of first period. In addition to normal practice days, they occasionally meet before school on A days.  They will start having practices before school on A days in November.  During practices they go through their halftime routines, competition routines, and they work on stunting and tumbling.
